Good afternoon, Allison here! For the Social Media Tip Of The Week and this week is all about timing! Is there a good time of the day to post versus a bad time of the day? Yes! Yes, there is!
Social Media Tip Of The Week - Timing Your Posts
There have been numerous studies done, and programs created to help study social media activity. Below are some of my favorite points from a study outlined on www.coschedule.com.
When are the best times to post on Facebook? The best times to post on Facebook is around 1-4 PM late into the week (Thursday, Friday) and on weekends. The study saw 18%-32% higher post engagement on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays compared to the rest of the week.
On Friday’s people seem happier, so more lighthearted and funny content will cater right to the nature of people being happier on Fridays, when the work week is ending.
To help track your audience you can used Facebook Analytics (look under “Insights” and “Posts”), and a program called Fanpage Karma! These will help track and see when your target audience is online as activity times are bound to change with age group.
Another trick is to schedule your posts with a company like Hootsuite. This way you can take the guesswork out of when and where to post.
On Instagram the best time to post is during off work hours during the work week. The general best times to post are 8-9 AM, 2 AM, and 5 PM.
An Instagram analytics tools called Iconosquare can be used to help you determine when to post on your Instagram to reach more of your own followers, as each target audience is different.
The study that I referenced for this article details time frames for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, and Google. If you are interested in reading more the link is below!
Have a great week and you can always find me on Instagram and Facebook!
