In this edition of Getting To Know, I’m so happy to introduce you to Adriana Spitzer of Bellissima Designer Resale Boutique. She has the most amazing store in Corona Del Mar in which I have visited several times. While I was just another customer coming into her store, herself and her staff were so warm and welcoming and the amount of inventory they have is amazing! If you find yourself in Orange County, California, make it a point to stop by and see her. Trust me, you won’t be sorry!
Your retail store is in the gorgeous Corona Del Mar. How did Bellissima Consignment start?
After being in the fashion industry for a long time, I had acquired a lot of designer items that I didn’t know what to do with. I started selling these items in fashion parties that I organized from my home. After noticing how successful I was, I opened a consignment shop. I chose the beautiful city of Corona Del Mar, because I knew it would be a great location.
What did you do before jumping into the luxury consignment business and what was the draw to it?
I worked for St. John Knits for over 16 years. Then I became a designer consultant for Nordstrom for a few years. During this time, I also accumulated many items from my high-profile clients who needed more space in their closets and didn’t know what to do with those exclusive items (at the time consignment shops were not very popular), and I decided to sell them at a fraction of the price. This was a win-win situation for not only my consignors, but also for many who could now afford these luxury items at an affordable price.
What are some of the biggest brands you carry?
Bellissima Consignment Boutique specializes in St. John Knits. We have a large St. John studio in the boutique where we carry the different St. John lines as well as perfume, accessories, shoes, etc. We also have a large selection of designers such as Chanel, Balenciaga, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Chloe, just to name a few!
Givenchy Mirtilla Chain Link T-Strap Sandals
You have bags, jewelry, shoes, clothing and accessories. What is the biggest seller for you?
St. John items, Chanel and Louis Vuitton handbags, and fine jewelry (John Hardy, Tiffany & Co, David Yurman), in this order, are my most popular sellers.
How do you authenticate items that come into your store?
Most of the authentication is done in our store by our fashion expert. We also use a third party authenticator if needed.
What is your day-to-day like?
I have an average of 2 or 3 new consignor appointments a day, in addition to drop-offs from our regular long-time consignors. I also make appointments for special customers in the store, as well as on FaceTime, for our out-of-the-state customers. Every day is different; I never know how the day will go. It keeps me on my toes!
What do you love most about what you do?
I love fashion and I enjoy the challenge of dressing all body types, as I consider myself a fit expert. I also have a great relationship with all of my clients, which gives me tremendous satisfaction at the end of the day.
What is the one brand that you collect yourself?
I have large collection of a few designers. If I had to choose one, vintage Chanel jewelry will be at the top of my list.
What’s something most people would find interesting about Bellissima Consignment?
What I believe makes us different from other consignment boutiques is our excellent customer service. I personally make sure that every customer that passes through our doors has a memorable shopping experience. This results in customers returning to my store on a regular basis, whether it is to shop or just to say hello.
What are your plans for the future of Bellissima Consignment?
I plan on expanding my online presence by marketing, creating, and promoting a strong presence on the different social media platforms.
